PART ONE GALLERY EXHIBITIONS PART ONE 16 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org Trish Klenow: The Four Seasons Bond Park Community Center Through Saturday, June 30 Artist Reception: Friday, June 29 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Oil on canvas The Four Seasons is a series of paintings inspired by the forces of nature and the changing of seasons. What we do, how we dress, where we go follows the cycles of nature. The paintings are done in oils; they show figures and animals literally connected to their landscapes, bodies dissolve into spores, fireflies, and petals. Francesco Corni: The Art of Drawing History through Architecture Cary Arts Center Gallery Friday, June 29–Saturday, August 25 Artist Reception: Friday, June 29 | 6–8 p.m. Drawing Workshop: Saturday, June 30 | 1–4:30 p.m. Medium: Ink drawings Through the ink line of his pen, Italian artist Corni proposes a journey through time and space, in exploration of the construction techniques of the important monuments of the world. The exhibition will be a path through the historical epochs and the different ways of building of the great civilizations: from Stonehenge, passing through the Greek temples and Roman monuments, up to the present day. Dawn Willis: Flower Portraits Cary Arts Center Principal's Hall Friday, June 29–Saturday, August 25 Artist Reception: Friday, June 29 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Photography Willis sees the beauty, peacefulness, and colors of all types of flowers and plants. She captures these qualities in her images. Willis says, "I am at peace when among my flower friends." Mercedes Jelinek: These Americans Cary Arts Center Gallery Through Saturday, June 23 Medium: Photography These Americans is a series of photographs depicting the Women's March on Washington D.C. in January of 2017. Over 470,000 took to the streets on January 21, 2017, with millions more joining in all over the world. Jelinek's images make a portrait of the event as a whole, showing determination expressed through individual chants, costumes, and signs. The Wing'ed Pen: In Whose Flight the Soul's Expression Soars by Ann Erickson Cary Arts Center Principal's Hall Through Saturday, June 23 Medium: Calligraphy A versatile collection of calligraphic quotes in many alphabet styles rendered in various media, such as 24K gold leaf, gouache, Chinese stick ink, and embossing on surfaces such as handmade paper, sheepskin vellum, and hot press watercolor paper. Helen Seebold & Erin Lawler: Sacred Meditations Herbert C. Young Community Center Gallery Through Saturday, June 23 Media: Mixed Sisters Lawler and Seebold present us with a mixed-media exhibition, with hands and angels featured prominently in this exhibit. Seebold's Celtic Angels are inspired by the decorative illustrations found in Medieval Illuminated Manuscripts reflecting on their role as messengers.
