PART ONE GALLERY EXHIBITIONS PART ONE 18 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org August The Thread Whisperers: Fabricated Structures Page-Walker Arts & History Center Tuesday, August 7–Saturday, September 2 Artist Reception: Friday, August 17 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Textiles From the dramatic to the subtle, this exhibit will reflect the spirits of Debbie Herbst, Shirley Perryman, Mary Ritter, and Ana Sumner through their anthologies of fabric, thread, embellishment, and machine and/or hand quilting. They have challenged themselves to depict organic and inorganic structures in their fabric art. Thomas Gruber: Capturing Great Light on Historic Architecture Town Hall Gallery Friday, August 31–Friday, October 19 Artist Reception: Friday, September 28 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Photography The lower level of Town Hall will feature photographic images of Italian architecture from Rome, Orvieto, Assisi, Florence, and Venice. Images on the upper level include beautiful towns and villages from the mysterious Languedoc region of southern France. The Image Salon: A Sense Of.... Herbert C. Young Community Center Gallery Friday, August 31–Saturday, October 20 Artist Reception: Friday, September 28 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Photography The Image Salon photographers will depict their individual interpretations of the overall theme, "A Sense Of..." by selecting their own topics such as "A Sense of… Place," or "A Sense of…Tranquility." Using a broad-spectrum theme, this group of award-winning photographers showcases the diversity in their styles by portraying their view of their own sense. Jane Wolfgang: Cary and Beyond Page-Walker Arts & History Center Tuesday, July 3–Saturday, August 4 Artist Reception: Friday, July 27 | 6–8 p.m. Media: Mixed Wolfgang's work evolved from her love of photography and acrylic painting. She combines maps, articles, brochures, and other artifacts with her own photo transfers and paint. The end result is a multilayered work rich in texture and color highlighting the treasures of her travels and her new hometown and its neighboring communities. Heather Gerni: In Reveries and Realities: The Cosmic Lilt Cary Senior Center Monday, July 23–Friday, August 24 Artist Reception: Friday, July 27 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Acrylics Gerni meshes everyday rational imagery with fantasy. Her vibrant dreamscapes and creatures are created through Intuitive Painting, a process in which neither the composition nor the subject matter is planned.
