Children will enhance their appreciation for the environment as they increase their understanding of nature through outdoor investigations, projects, and activities. Children are dropped off for these programs. In these programs, they will learn about nature through hands-on explorations in the preserve along with fun activities and crafts. Give your child the same opportunity in a safe environment brimming with opportunities for discovery. Staff-led explorations offer your child the chance to make their own memories, while increasing knowledge about local plants and animals. To help prevent injuries, closed-toed footwear is required. Rubber boots, hiking shoes, or sneakers are recommended; do not wear flip-flops, Crocs, sandals, or other open-toed shoes. Bare feet are absolutely prohibited! PROTECT YOUR FEET! DISCOVER SOMETHING NEW! Night Out in Nature (age 8–12) Kids are dropped off to spend a night out in nature making memories and new friends. Our adventures will encourage the understanding and appreciation of the natural world at night. This old-fashioned camp style program includes nature activities and crafts, night hikes, and campfire snacks around the fire pit. Each program has a different nature topic.
