NATURE EDUCATION PART TWO REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 49 Eco-Express (age 8–12) Take the fast track to nature in these hands-on studies of nature and ecology at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve. Children will enhance their appreciation for the environment as they increase their understanding of nature through outdoor investigations, projects, and activities. Children are dropped off for these programs. Location: Stevens Nature Center/Hemlock Bluffs Fees: $9(R) $12(N) (1 class) DISCOVERING REPTILES 114758 Mon Jun 25 2–4 p.m. T1 SEARCHING STREAMS 114759 Fri Jul 6 1–3 p.m. TO FOXES AND COYOTES 114760 Fri Aug 24 10 a.m.–noon T2 Weekend Curiosity Club (age 5–8) Children will embrace science and nature at the Stevens Nature Center while developing skills and knowledge to satisfy their curiosity about the natural world around them. In these programs, they will learn about nature through hands-on explorations in the preserve along with fun activities and crafts. Give your child the same opportunity in a safe environment brimming with opportunities for discovery. Staff-led explorations offer your child the chance to make their own memories, while increasing knowledge about local plants and animals. Location: Stevens Nature Center/Hemlock Bluffs Fees: $8(R) $10(N) (1 class) EXPLORATION: INSECTS 114767 Sun Jun 3 2–4 p.m. EXPLORATION: REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS 114768 Sat Jul 14 2–4 p.m. EXPLORATION: SWIFT CREEK 114769 Sun Jul 22 2–4 p.m. EXPLORATION: BACKYARD BIRDS 114770 Sun Aug 12 2–4 p.m. Nature Education and Outdoor Recreation classes may involve traveling over rough or uneven terrain. To help prevent injuries, closed-toed footwear is required. Rubber boots, hiking shoes, or sneakers are recommended; do not wear flip-flops, Crocs, sandals, or other open-toed shoes. Bare feet are absolutely prohibited! PROTECT YOUR FEET! DISCOVER SOMETHING NEW! Night Out in Nature (age 8–12) Kids are dropped off to spend a night out in nature making memories and new friends. Our adventures will encourage the understanding and appreciation of the natural world at night. This old-fashioned camp style program includes nature activities and crafts, night hikes, and campfire snacks around the fire pit. Each program has a different nature topic.
