OUTDOOR RECREATION PART TWO REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 55 Boating Canoeing Intro to Canoeing (age 10 & up) Learn basic paddling and safety skills for tandem canoeing in this short introductory course. Course covers personal preparation, equipment choices, and strokes essential to efficient paddling in a Bond Lake–type environment. Approximately half the time will be spent on the water. Canoe rental is included. Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park Instructor: Program Staff Fees: $39(R) $51(N) (1 class) 113648 Sat Jul 28 9–11 a.m. Kayaking Kayaking for Teens (age 11–17) An introduction to kayaking, this three-hour class covers the basics of the sport, including safety, proper stroke technique, braces, wet exiting, and rescues. The class is taught by a certified British Canoe Union Instructor. Kayak rental is included. Location: Fred G. This is an outdoor program; dress appropriately for the weather. USA Archery Instructors will provide coaching to perfect technique and archery knowledge. Participants must have attended a Town of Cary Intro to Archery class. All equipment is provided. Participants may use their own bow. Max draw weight 35 lbs. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Brian Barnett/Todd Moesch Fees: $99(R) $129(N) (8 classes) 114578 Tue Jun 26–Aug 21 5:30–7 p.m. (No class July 3) Junior Olympic Archery Development Program (age 10–20) Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) is a USA Archery program that helps archers to enjoy the sport recreationally or progress to the excitement of competition! You will learn the steps to shooting success as taught to Olympic athletes, earning awards as you master skills at different levels. Your own equipment is highly recommended, but not mandatory. All members are required to join USA Archery within two weeks after starting the program.
