SPECIAL EVENTS REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org PART ONE 7 INDEPENDENCE DAY EVENTS e Ice-Cream Social Tuesday, July 3 | 2–4 p.m. | Age 55 & Up | Free Cary Senior Center This annual event is tasty and fun for all! Not only do we enjoy delicious ice-cream treats, but we are entertained by the Bond Park Community Center day camp children. The annual event is cosponsored by Ashworth Drugs and the Rotary Club of Cary. Reserve your seat by June 25 using course code 113468. Independence Eve Celebration Tuesday, July 3 | Free Preshow with Applause! Cary Youth Theatre | 6:30 p.m. Cary Town Band | 7:30 p.m. Cary Arts Center Known at the time as "The Great War" or "The War to End All Wars," World War I ended on November 11, 1918, exactly 100 years ago this November. To commemorate this upcoming anniversary, the band's 31st annual Independence Eve Celebration musically recalls the many wonderful tunes written during that war. It will feature music honoring those who served, and, of course, we'll salute our military service personnel past and present who have helped secure our freedom and liberty through all the years. It's a celebration you don't want to miss as we recall The Great War. Independence Olde Time Celebration Tuesday, July 4 | 8 a.m. | Free Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Boathouse Join us for an old-fashioned celebration of our nation's birth. It's sure to be lots of fun for the entire family! Along with activities, the Boathouse will be open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. FISHING TOURNAMENT—WATERFRONT 8–10 a.m. Prizes awarded for the largest and smallest length fish and other categories. Registration opens at 7:20 a.m. at the waterfront. PARADE PREPARATIONS—KIWANIS SHELTER 9:30–10:30 a.m. Decorate your bike, trike, stroller, wagon, scooter, or battery-powered kid's vehicle (no gas-powered vehicles). The theme is "American Pride." Limited supplies provided; you are welcome to provide your own supplies or come already prepared. Supplies and assistance provided by Cary Teen Council. PARADE IN THE PARK—KIWANIS SHELTER 10:30 a.m. Show your American pride! Ride, stroll, and parade through the park to the Boathouse. Awards will be given in various age groups. Spectators of all ages are welcome to walk with your youngster or watch from the side. We will end at the Boathouse to start the remainder of the festivities. FAMILY CONTESTS—BOATHOUSE 11 a.m. This event features a donut-eating contest, lakeside Olympics, watermelon-eating contest, watermelon seed-spitting contest, and sidewalk decorating. We will have sidewalk chalk but welcome you to bring your own, too. Age group for all events are: 5 & under, 6–10, 11–17, and 18 & up. July 4th Celebration at Koka Booth Amphitheatre Tuesday, July 4 | 3–10 p.m. Koka Booth Amphitheatre Patriotic performances and music combined with family-friendly activities in an atmosphere that is second to none makes the July 4th Celebration at Booth Amphitheatre an event not to be missed. As the last note fades, the celebration is capped off with a spectacular fireworks display. Kids young and old will enjoy the Ferris wheel, an array of contests, magicians, scavenger hunts, rides, and more! SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 3 p.m. Gates Open to Blankets, Lawn Chairs, & Picnics 3–7 p.m. Kids Activities, Ferris Wheel, Berry-Go-Round, American Hot Shot, Scavenger Hunt, and More 4:30–6 p.m. Watermelon Eating, Ice-Cream Eating, and Corn Hole Contests 5:45 p.m. Cary Town Band on Koka Booth Main Stage 7:30 p.m. NC Symphony on Koka Booth Main Stage SPECIAL RESERVED SEATING Crescent table seating is $40 per seat and includes Lumpy's Ice cream and preferred parking. Tickets may be purchased at the Amphitheatre Box Office or online at www.etix.com. Please note: Tarps, blankets, and chairs are allowed on the lawn. Staking and tents are not permitted.
