SPECIAL INTERESTS PART TWO 86 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org Pet Education Dog Obedience Classes (age 16 & up) You will learn the importance of your role as leader and teach your dog self-control. You and your dog will learn commands such as sit, down, come, and stay, Teach your dog to walk on a loose leash without pulling, resulting in improved behavior in public as well as at home. This course is for dogs 3.5 months and older. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Robina Thornton Fees: $149(R) $179(N) (6 classes) 114445 Wed Jun 6–Jul 18 7–8 p.m. (No class July 4) Distraction Proofing for Your Dog (age 16 & up) Learn to eliminate tempting distractions when you are out with your dog. This class will improve your ability to control your dog in unexpected situations. By adding distractions and practicing commands off leash, your dog will improve self-control and make your public outings more fun. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Robina Thornton Fees: $149(R) $179(N) (6 classes) 114446 Wed Jun 6–Jul 18 8–9 p.m. (No class July 4) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) Let's Build Robots—Impossible Search and Rescue (age 6–12) This is a mission-based program where teams will accept the challenge to be the first responder in circumstances of extreme weather, danger, abandonment, and quarantine. These victims need robots that can climb up ropes to rescue Lego mini figure victims, rovers that can drive through and over any obstacle, and much more. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: American Robotics Academy Fees: $229(R) $259(N) (9 classes) 114418 Tue Jun 19–Aug 21 6:30–7:45 p.m. (No class July 3) Workshops Drone Piloting Workshop (age 16 & up) Perfect your piloting skills in this hands-on workshop! You will practice flying mini quad copters starting with simulators and moving to FPV drones controlled through remote camera view. Maintenance and FAA guidelines will be covered.
