Not only do we enjoy delicious ice cream treats, we are entertained by the Bond Park Community Center day camp children. The annual event is cosponsored by Ashworth Drugs and the Rotary Club of Cary. Reserve your seat by June 25 using course code 124113. Independence Eve Celebration Wednesday, July 3 | Free Preshow with Applause! Cary Youth Theatre | 6:30 p.m. Cary Town Band | 7:30 p.m. Cary Arts Center Kick off your annual July 4th festivities with a patriotic musical tribute brought to you by the Applause! Cary Youth Theatre and the Cary Town Band. Independence Olde Time Celebration Thursday, July 4 | 8 a.m. | Free Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Boathouse Join us for an old-fashioned celebration of our nation's birth. It's sure to be lots of fun for the entire family! Along with activities, the Boathouse will be open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. FISHING TOURNAMENT—WATERFRONT 8–10 a.m. Prizes awarded for the largest and smallest length sh and other categories. Registration opens at 7:20 a.m. at the waterfront. PARADE PREPARATIONS—KIWANIS SHELTER 9:30–10:30 a.m. Decorate your bike, trike, stroller, wagon, scooter, or battery-powered kid's vehicle (no gas-powered vehicles). The theme is "American Pride." Limited supplies provided; you can provide your own supplies or come already prepared. Supplies and assistance provided by Cary Teen Council. PARADE IN THE PARK—KIWANIS SHELTER 10:30 a.m. Show your American pride! Ride, stroll, and parade through the park to the Boathouse. Awards will be given in various age groups. Spectators of all ages are welcome to walk with your youngster or watch from the side. We will end at the Boathouse to start the remainder of the festivities. FAMILY CONTESTS—BOATHOUSE 11 a.m. This event features a donut-eating contest, lakeside Olympics, watermelon-eating contest, watermelon seed-spitting contest, and sidewalk decorating. We will have sidewalk chalk but welcome you to bring your own, too. Age group for all events are: 5 & under, 6–10, 11–17, and 18 & up. July 4th Celebration at Koka Booth Amphitheatre Thursday, July 4 | 3–10 p.m. Koka Booth Amphitheatre Patriotic performances and music combined with family-friendly activities in an atmosphere that is second to none makes the July 4th Celebration at Booth Amphitheatre an event not to be missed. As the last note fades, the celebration is capped off with a spectacular reworks display. Kids young and old will enjoy the Ferris wheel, contests, magicians, rides, and more!
