MOVE Providing Transportation Choices 32 C A RY, N O RT H C A R O L I N A F Y 2 0 25 4 T H Q U A R T E R R E P O R T B I K E M O N T H May's Bike Month was packed with activities that offered something for everyone. Programs like Bike Bingo, the workplace challenge, and a self-guided history tour encouraged participation throughout the month. Signature days like Bike to School Day were complemented by a Light Up the Night ride through downtown, a Bike to the Park celebration at Downtown Cary Park, and a pop-up event at Dorcas Ministries that promoted connections between biking and GoCary. The Cary Theater even hosted a bike-themed movie night. Cary partnered with bike advocacy group Oaks and Spokes for several events this year, and their involvement helped increase participation, foster connections, and build momentum for community engagement around biking. The month wrapped up with a Bicycle and Pedestrian Forum at Downtown Cary Park, where residents and experts discussed the future of active mobility in Cary. N E W G O C A RY S T O P S GoCary is getting an upgrade. Work began on the construction of 43 new bus stops to support two new routes scheduled to begin later this year. Stops are being built along the new Route 2, which will connect downtown Cary, North Carolina State University, and the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Later this summer, construction will begin along the new Route 9, which will connect downtown Cary and downtown Apex with expanded bus service along High House Road, Old Apex Road, and North Salem Street. In addition to the new stops, 38 existing stops will receive accessibility upgrades, and a new crosswalk with pedestrian signals will be built at Walnut Street and Donaldson Drive.
