The facility is a biological nutrient removal facility, located on Reclamation Road, and serves residents and businesses in the towns of Apex, Cary, and Morrisville. The facility discharges exceptionally- treated water to the Cape Fear River downstream of the Buckhorn Dam. WESTERN WAKE REGIONAL WRF RECEIVED A NOTICE OF VIOLATION (NOV-2024-LV-0729). The violation, dated August 15, 2024, cited an exceedance of the monthly average summer phosphorus limit of 0.75 mg/L, with a reported value of 1.181 mg/L on May 31, 2024.
