SPORTS REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 107 PART TWO Softball Hitting Skills and Techniques—Intermediate (age 11–14) If you have played at least one season of softball and have confidence in the batter's box, this is the clinic for you. Improve your swing to accomplish stronger contact, hitting placement, and bat speed. Instructor will review bunting technique and methods for getting a good jump out of the batter's box and increasing your sprint speed from home to first. Location: Mills Park Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 83479 Sun Mar 15 1–3 p.m. Softball Training for Tryouts (age 12–18) This clinic will prepare players for Middle School and High School tryouts for both the physical and mental parts of the game. Players will work with athletic trainers to get in shape for tryouts and work on drills that will enhance her overall game. Instructor will also cover the following questions: What should you expect? What are coaches looking for? What can you do to showcase your best game? Location: To be determined Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors & EXOS Trainers Fees: $100 (R) $130 (N) (3 classes) 7th & 8th Grade Players 83481 Sun Jan 25–Feb 15 12–2 p.m. 9th-12th Grade Players 83481 Sun Jan 25–Feb 15 2:30–4:30 p.m. Softball Fastpitch Pitching Clinic—Beginner (age 8–11) Learn the mechanics of a windmill pitch. This clinic is for players who are just starting out on the mound. The focus will be on the fastball and change-up pitches. Location: Mills Park Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 83487 Sat Mar 14 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Softball Fastpitch Pitching Clinic—Intermediate (age 11–14) If you have pitched for your team for at least one season and were able to throw strikes with some consistency, then you are ready to move beyond the fastball. This clinic will focus on accuracy with speed and will begin to introduce movement to pitches—hitting the corners, change-up, rise and drop. Location: Mills Park Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 83491 Sun Mar 15 3–5 p.m. 1-on-1 Softball Lessons Town of Cary 1-on-1 softball lessons are offered year round and are intended to develop, enhance, and build upon your player's skill level. Due to overwhelming popularity of lessons; available dates are released on the 25th of every month for lessons being held the following month. They will be posted on EZ-REG web and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Please follow the prompts to indicate the type of lesson you would like. Lessons can be 30 minutes ($25) or an hour long ($40). Anyone can sign up for a 30 minute lesson; hour long lessons are available for players age 10-17. Softball Fastpitch Pitching Clinic—Advanced (age 13–16) This session is ONLY for players who have pitched for at least two years and who want to master more advanced pitches and pitch defense. Location: Mills Park Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 83494 Sat Mar 14 1–3 p.m. Softball Catching Clinic— Intermediate (age 11–14) Designed for players who have been catching for a year with live pitching. This clinic will work on blocking, throw- downs, bunt defense, communication and positioning for the tag. Location: Mills Park Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 83497 Sun Mar 15 3–5 p.m. Softball Catching Clinic— Advanced (age 13–16) For catchers who have been playing this position for more than two years. The clinic will focus on a review of catching skills, including quarterbacking, blocking, pop- ups, throw-downs, bunt defense, communication and positioning for the tag.
