Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $45(R) $54(N) (2 classes) 89042 Sun Sep 13, 20 1–2:30 p.m. 89043 Tue Nov 10, 17 6–7:30 p.m. Softball Fall Training Clinic (age 8–14) A good review of basic mechanics and fundamentals of the game, focusing on throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and base running. Players work on drills they can do at home over the winter to get ready for spring. Players are split into age appropriate groups. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructor: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $10 (1 class) 89030 Sat Nov 7 9 a.m.–noon Softball Fastpitch Pitching Clinic: Beginner (age 9–12) Learn the mechanics of a windmill pitch in this clinic for players who are just starting out on the mound. The focus will be on the fastball and change-up pitches. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $45(R) $54(N) (2 classes) 89033 Sat Sep 12 & 19 10:30 a.m.–noon Softball Catching Clinic: Intermediate (age 11–14) Designed for players who have been catching for a year with live pitching, this clinic works on blocking, throw- downs, bunt defense, communication, and positioning for the tag. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $45(R) $54(N) (2 classes) 89041 Tue Sep 8 & 15 6:30–8 p.m. Softball Hitting Skills and Techniques: Intermediate (age 11–14) If you have played at least one season of softball and have confidence in the batters box, this is the clinic for you. Learn how to improve your swing to accomplish stronger contact, hitting placement, and bat speed with a review of bunting technique and methods for getting a good jump out of the batters box, improving your sprint speed from home to first. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $45(R) $54(N) (2 classes) 89044 Sun Sep 13 & 20 3–4:30 p.m. 89045 Wed Nov 11 & 18 6–7:30 p.m. Softball Fast-Pitch Pitching and Catching Clinic (age 11–15) This clinic is a combination of our intermediate pitching and softball programs and works on mechanics for pitching and pitch selection. Catchers will work on fundamentals while combining with live pitching. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $45(R) $54(N) (2 classes) 89051 Thu Nov 12 & 19 6:30–8 p.m. Softball Outfielders Clinic (age 12–15) Participants learn proper mechanics for success in the outfield including how to track trajectory, how to play the fence, approach on grounders, communication, and reducing get-and-go time. Throwing technique will be covered to teach players how to increase the strength and distance of throws from the outfield. There will be a review of game situations for outfield strategy.
