Class is suitable for beginners as well as advanced students who wish to refine sketching skills and build vocabulary. (age 8–11) In this class, students will learn to use sewing machines, learn the basics of hand sewing, and complete a fun project to take home. Supplies will be provided. Instructor: Sarah Ferguson Fees: $63(R) $75(N) (3 classes) 94547 Wed Jun 15–29 4:30–6:30 p.m. Patchwork Sling Bag (age 8–11) This class is for students who have used a sewing machine before and want to practice their skills. We will use a pattern to make a reversible patchwork sling bag with a strap that ties at the top. Supplies will be provided. Instructor: Sarah Ferguson Fees: $42(R) $51(N) (2 classes) 94549 Wed Jul 6–13 4:30–6:30 p.m. Paint, Prints & Dyes (age 8–11) Start with blank fabric and create a work of art! In this class, we will explore different ways to print, paint, and dye fabric to create one-of-a-kind textiles. Once our fabrics are complete, we will sew a project to take home. Dress to get messy when you attend this class. Supplies provided. Instructor: Sarah Ferguson Fees: $63(R) $75(N) (4 classes) 94550 Wed Jul 20–Aug 10 5:30–7:30 p.m. Cute as a Button (age 8–11) Buttons can be practical, but they're far more fun as embellishments. In this class, we'll practice the truly handy skill of sewing on buttons while using a colorful assortment to ornament our projects. Starting with embroidery thread and jumbo buttons, we'll work our way toward becoming button experts! Instructor: Sarah Ferguson Fees: $34(R) $44(N) (2 classes) 94551 Wed Aug 17–24 4:30–6 p.m. MORE WAYS TO PAR TICIPATE! c Youth Sewing and Textiles Studio The Cary Arts Center offers a variety of sewing classes to learn new skills and techniques. Successful completion of one of our Beginning Sewing classes qualifies students to purchase a Sewing/Textiles Membership Pass to access the studio and use the the equipment to work on individual projects. Open Studio for youths is scheduled on Monday evenings from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Please note the studio is not available on some Monday evenings due to other programming.
