This will be an intensive workshop that exceeds the typical class. You will receive an individual critique and tips on how to apply the principles learned to your style of painting. Students will pay a $150 deposit with the balance due on July 20. Complete large abstract paintings that address color, passion, and expression. The supply list will be shown on your receipt. Metals and Jewelry Beginning Metals and Jewelry (16 & up) Learn metalsmithing techniques: silver soldering, riveting, sawing, forging, and texturing. Typical beginning projects will utilize copper, brass, or nickel sheet metal and wire. Each student will create projects of their own. Supplies can be purchased at the Arts Center. Class satisfies eligibility for an Open Studio Pass. Students should bring a 6mm round, facetted stone. Prerequisite required. Instructor: David Tomlin Fees: $81(R) $108(N) (4 classes) 94572 Mon Jun 20–Jul 18 6:30–9:30 p.m. Intro to Lapidary—Cabochons (16 & Up) Learn basic skills to plan; select material; and use machines and tools to cut, shape, and polish semi- precious and precious gemstone. Students will create cabochons in variations of shapes for use in jewelry designs. Tools are provided. Metals and stones are available for purchase at the Arts Center. You will learn techniques to build structure and volume in your work, sharpening your soldering and fabrication skills. Students design and develop new projects of interest, such as band ring designs, cabochon stone setting, and small objects. Prerequisite: Beginning Metals and Jewelry class at Cary Arts Center.
