Independence Eve Celebration Sunday, July 3 | Free Preshow with Applause! Cary Youth Theatre | 6:30 p.m. Cary Town Band | 7:30 p.m. Cary Arts Center This year, for the 29th Annual Patriotic Celebration, the Cary Town Band, Applause! Cary Youth Theatre, and other groups will be musically saluting the American flag, its history, and many musical works it has inspired. Joining with the Town Band is a complete chorus; these groups will feature John Raymond Howell's offering of "A Salute to the Flag," plus marches, songs, a salute to our military service personnel, and other works recalling Old Glory. Independence Olde Time Celebration Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Boathouse Monday, July 4 | 7:30 a.m.–3 p.m. | Free Join us for an old-fashioned celebration of our nation's birth. It's sure to be lots of fun for the entire family! FISHING TOURNAMENT—WATERFRONT 8–10 a.m. Prizes awarded for the largest and smallest length fish and other categories. Registration is at the waterfront. PARADE PREPARATIONS—KIWANIS SHELTER 9:30–10:30 a.m. Decorate your bike, trike, stroller, wagon, scooter, or battery-powered kid's vehicle (no gas-powered vehicles). The theme is "American Pride." Limited supplies provided; you are welcome to provide your own supplies or come already prepared. Supplies and assistance provided by Cary Teen Council. PARADE IN THE PARK—KIWANIS SHELTER 10:30 a.m. Show your American pride! Ride, stroll, and parade through the park to the Boathouse. Awards will be given in various age groups. Spectators of all ages are welcome to walk with your youngster or watch from the side. We will end at the Boathouse to start the remainder of the festivities. FAMILY CONTESTS—BOATHOUSE 11 a.m.–3 p.m. This event features a donut-eating contest, lakeside Olympics, watermelon-eating contest, watermelon seed-spitting contest, water-balloon toss, and sidewalk decorating. We will have sidewalk chalk but welcome you to bring your own, too. Age group for all events are: 5 & under, 6–10, 11–17, and 18 & up. July 4th Celebration at Koka Booth Amphitheatre Monday, July 4 | 3–10 p.m. Patriotic performances and music combined with family-friendly activities in an atmosphere that is second to none makes the July 4th Celebration at Booth Amphitheatre an event not to be missed. The celebration is capped off with a spectacular fireworks display. Kids young and old will want to take a ride on the Ferris wheel, which offers a stunning view of Symphony Lake. There will also be an array of contests, magicians, scavenger hunts, rides, and more! Schedule of Events 3 p.m. Gates open; bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics 3–7 p.m. Kids activities, Ferris wheel, Berry-Go-Round, American Hot Shot (new!), scavenger hunt, and more 4:30–6 p.m. Watermelon eating, ice cream eating, and corn hole contests 5:45 p.m. Cary Town Band on Koka Booth Main Stage 7:30 p.m. NC Symphony on Koka Booth Main Stage Special Reserved Seating Booth Amphitheatre is once again offering Crescent table seating for purchase. The price is $40 per seat and includes Lumpy's Ice cream and preferred parking. Tickets may be purchased at the Amphitheatre Box Office or online at www.etix.com. PARADE IN THE PARK
