Environmental Education Participation for environmental programs increased 9% over the first quarter of 2015. Staff coordinated 16 volunteer workdays at Hemlock Bluffs, utilizing 393 volunteers and accumulating 856 volunteer hours at a cost savings to the Town of $18,378. Outdoor Recreation An estimated 1,200 people attended the Kite Festival, including 200 registered for the Kite Flying Contest. Awards were given in a variety of categories including "Best Crash" and "Quickest Take-off" Approximately 5,000 people enjoyed three egg hunts in the Bond Park Spillway (new location). The Eggstravaganza, a hunt for persons with special needs, with about 200 in attendance was helf the following week. The Eggstravaganza included roving magic and a short dance show performed by youth from Starlight Dance Studio. Challenge Ropes Course programs served 92 participants and generated $4,480 in revenue. Cary Teen Council On February 17 and 23, Teen Council hosted auditions for Triangle's Got Talent, a charity event to fight hunger throughout Wake County. Fifteen teen acts performed in the main event on Sunday, April 10 at the Cary Theater. All proceeds will be donated to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. Cary Teen Council hosted the annual "Breakfast with the Bunny" for 192 parents and children before the annual egg hunt.
