Creating ACTIVE Retirement Years (919) 469-4081 11 Arts & Crafts Beginning to Draw using your Creative Right Brain A basic drawing class filled with fun exercises and projects designed for you to build confidence in your drawing abilities while using your creative right brain to "see" many options. Class sessions will focus on the essential elements of a drawing, contour lines, value, texture, composition and perspective, while exploring the use of a variety of dry media. Bring a 9 x 12" sketchbook and let's begin to draw! Instructor: Ginny O'Neal Fees: $33(R) $43(N) (3 classes) 96015 Tue Nov 29–Dec 13 4:30–6:30 p.m. Intermediate Colored Pencil This class is for students who are familiar with colored pencil basics and would like to continue developing their skills in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. We will work on a variety of surfaces completing still-life and landscape drawings, a Sumatran Tiger Portrait and a "student's choice" project. No prerequisite needed. Instructor: Margaret Nelson Fees: $44(R) $57(N) (6 classes) 96030 Wed Nov 16–Dec 21 9:30–11:30 a.m. (no class 11/9) PAINTING Express yourself by painting with acrylics, water-soluble oils and other unique mediums. You must have all supplies at the first class. Pick up your supply list at the Cary Senior Center front desk or visit the senior center webpage at www.townofcary.org Painting with Water Soluble Oils and Acrylics Water-Soluble Oils (WSO) can be fun! No fumes, no toxicity as you will be using water-soluble oil paints! Receive supply list/ information at registration. Instructor: Marcelle Hooks NEW! CLASSICAL PAINTING TECHNIQUES Learning to scale a small photo to a larger canvas using a different type of grid for a true likeness. This class includes mixing and applying an under painting using a 10 value scale; and a flesh palette similar to those used by Vernier and the Old Masters. Paint backgrounds, composition, clothing with folds, glazing techniques and much more. First time portrait students will copy an old master painting in order to best learn the procedure, more advanced students can select from instructors photos. This is a water soluble oils only class. More instruction at registration. Value palettes are furnished for use during this class.
