Creating ACTIVE Retirement Years (919) 469-4081 13 Arts & Crafts Going Abstract— How and Why? If you are a novice or experienced painter who wishes to explore creative methods that go beyond realism, this is the course for you. With no recognizable object to inform the viewer what the subject matter is, the abstract painter relies on color, shape, value, line, symbols, and texture, to express emotions and meaning. Combined with other creative techniques, the painter create work that is limited only by imagination and a willingness to explore. This class will also discuss the values that inform a successful abstract painting. When you have developed and recognized your artistic identity, your work may be informed by what you have seen others do, but it will not be derivative. You will learn how to paint scenic views of landscapes, sea and mountains as well as still life's.
