SPORTS PART TWO REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 105 Softball Softball Hitting Skills & Techniques— Beginner (age 8–12) Players will learn how to develop a sound swing and fundamental hitting mechanics. We will be breaking down the swing and teaching participants how to develop good habits from the start to the follow-through. Location: Mills Park Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $45(R) $54(N) (2 classes) 107674 Sat Sep 9 & 16 9–10:30 a.m. Softball Throwing & Catching for Beginners (age 8–12) Players will learn proper technique for throwing a ball, including grip, arm mechanics, body rotation, and how to increase the power and distance of their throws. Players will also learn fundamentals for catching and fielding balls, with emphasis on quickly transitioning from catch to throw. Location: Mills Park Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fee: $45(R) $54(N) (2 classes) 107682 Sat Sep 9 & 16 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Softball Pitching Clinic— Beginner (age 8–12) This clinic is for players who are just starting out as pitchers. Instructors will teach players the proper pitching progression and, by the end of the clinic, pitchers will be executing full pitches to catchers. Location: Mills Park Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $45(R) $54(N) (2 classes) 107678 Sat Sep 9 & 16 1–2:30 p.m. Softball Catching Clinic— Beginner (age 8–12) This clinic is for players who want to learn the basics of the catcher position. We will focus on positioning, moving to the ball, blocking, framing, and throwing. Location: Mills Park Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $45 (R) $54(N) (2 classes) 107679 Sat Sep 9 & 16 1–2:30 p.m. Futsal Youth Futsal Skills & Games Clinic (age 5–9) Futsal is a fun, popular indoor version of soccer that originated in Brazil and is now played worldwide! This clinic is designed to help youth develop technical and game playing skills. The game is played on a court with four players, plus a goalie, and uses a heavier-weighted ball. The small-sided format allows players more touches, which is critical to developing confidence with the ball. This is a coed program. Club control, body control, ball control, putting, pitch and run, and standard pitch and bunker shots will be covered. Location: Lochmere Golf Club Instructor: Lochmere staff Fees: $60(R) $80(N) (5 classes) 105654 Mon-Fri Sep 11–15 4–5 p.m. Running Cross Country Clinic (age 6 & up) Cary hosts dozens of great running events each year and this program will help you train for the race of your choice. We will work on developing a base for running a 5K or launch your training to run a marathon. Let's get started!
