SPORTS PART TWO 98 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org NTC Academy—Power & Agility for Sports, Baseball Focus (age 12–18) Strength and conditioning training will be paired with speed and agility work, helping players develop the power and quick reaction time they need to be successful in sports. We will also discuss and execute proper warm-up and cool down techniques to aid in injury prevention. Location: USA Baseball National Training Complex Instructor: Town of Cary Strength & Conditioning Instructor Fees: $54(R) $65 (N) (2 classes) 107671 Thu Sep 21 & 28 6–7:30 p.m. NTC Academy—Hitting Skills & Techniques (age 14–18) This clinic is designed for experienced players and will focus on the fundamentals of hitting, including stance, hitting position, balance, bat path, bat speed, and follow- through. Topics also included are opposite-field hitting and hitting for power. The clinic includes several instructional drills as well as batting cage practice. Location: USA Baseball National Training Complex Instructor: Town of Cary Baseball Instructors Fees: $27(R) $35(N) (1 class) 107710 Sun Oct 29 1–2:30 p.m. NTC Academy—Fielding Skills & Techniques (age 14–18) Participants will learn proper fielding techniques, including a review of the fundamentals and drills that will help them become elite players on a competitive level. Protective equipment is encouraged. Location: USA Baseball National Training Complex Instructors: Town of Cary Baseball Instructors Fees: $27(R) $35(N) (1 class) 107714 Sun Oct 29 2:30–4 p.m. Fall Baseball Clinic (ages 7–14) Participants in this clinic will learn the game of baseball and participate in a variety of drills and games to develop the skills needed to become better players. This clinic is geared towards having fun and developing skills. Entire youth teams are encouraged to come together! No experience necessary. Location: USA Baseball National Training Complex Instructors: Town of Cary Baseball Instructors Fees: $15 (1 class) 107726 Sun Nov 5 1–4 p.m. Hitting Skills & Techniques (age 8–14) This clinic will focus on the fundamentals of hitting, including proper stance, hitting position, balance, bat path, bat speed, and follow-through. The clinic will involve instructional drills and batting cage practice. The information learned at the clinic will be able to be applied directly to the field. Players will learn drills that they can also use on their own time. No competitive experience is required. We rely on volunteer coaches for our youth sports leagues. Coaches must be available for weekly practices and games, be certified by the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS), and submit and pass a background check.
