Creating ACTIVE Retirement Years (919) 469-4081 15 PAINTING FLOWERS & STILL LIFE WITHOUT DRAWING You will learn a different technique for painting flowers and still life. This is the 'wipe out' method, where there is no drawing required and the image seems to emerge from the canvas as the paint is wiped out. This technique produces a looser painting and will also include mixing greens that give life to the painting, lots of other color mixing, composition and 6 techniques that add depth to your paintings, plus much more. All levels welcome; Instructor works with each student individually. Also, we will focus on mixing greens, painting skies, trees and much more. Acrylic or Water- Soluble oils are welcome. Utilizing oils as colorant and a beeswax paste, you will be amazed at the variety and range of expression that is possible with this medium. Advantages include little to no odor, quick setting times and enhanced image possibilities. Location: Classroom 306 Instructor: George Wade Carmichael Fees: $44(R) $57(N) (4 classes) 120324 Tue Apr 30–May 21 1–3 p.m. Colored Pencils as a Fine Art Medium Colored pencils are a versatile fine art medium. In this class you will learn how to create dramatic colored pencil paintings by using under painting, layering and burnishing techniques. We will work on a variety of subjects including flowers, fruits, glass, metal and more on white, tinted and black paper. Select from photos provided by the instructor or bring your own. All levels welcome. Class and individual instruction will be provided. Location: Classroom 306 Instructor: Carmen Barros Fees: $50(R) $65(N) (4 classes) 120203 Sat Jan 19–Feb 9 1–4 p.m. (meet in 302 on 1/19) PAINTING Painting with Marcelle Location: Classroom 306 Instructor: Marcelle Hooks CLASSICAL PAINTING TECHNIQUES This is a comprehensive class with an academic approach to learn how to paint (a portrait, a figure, an animal, florals) using the classical techniques of under painting and glazing. This class will teach you everything you need to know from drawing to mixing under painting and color palettes. If you choose to paint a portrait, first time students will copy an old master painting from photos furnished by the Instructor. Students wishing to paint another subject supply their own photos which must be enlarged to an 8 x 10. This class is for water- based oils only and you will not be able to begin this class without your supplies.
