Cary offers additional voluntary insurance benefits (Accident Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance and Whole Life Policy) through payroll deduction. These benefits are available so that employees can elect additional coverage and services if they are right for them! New hires, completing their benefit enrollment for the first time, will have the opportunity to enroll in an Unum benefit directly from Employee Navigator. ACCIDENT INSURANCE The Accident Insurance plan offered through UNUM provides a benefit based on the type of injury (or covered incident) sustained or the type of treatment needed. Examples of covered injuries include broken bones, torn ligaments, burns, eye injuries, etc. Some covered expenses include emergency room treatment, outpatient surgery, hospitalization, doctor office visits and more. The benefit amount paid out varies based on the accident and expenses incurred. This benefit can help reduce your medical expenses due to an accident. The cost per paycheck for this benefit is shown below: AMOUNT EMPLOYEE $4.74 EMPLOYEE + SPOUSE/DOMESTIC PARTNER $7.70 EMPLOYEE + CHILDREN $8.32 EMPLOYEE + FAMILY $11.28 WHOLE LIFE INSURANCE A Whole Life Insurance Policy offered through UNUM is available Cary employees. The main difference between this policy and the group life insurance through Reliance is that this benefit provides "living benefits" when you need them in addition to a payment in the event of your death. The rate for this benefit can be found here. With this benefit, employees are also eligible for the Long Term Care Rider.
