Cary provides a comprehensive, competitive paid leave package to include vacation, sick, leave my way, paid Family Medical Leave, paid parental, paid bereavement leave, and other paid and other unpaid leaves to all regular, benefitted employees. HELPFUL INFO P a y r o l l S c h e d u l e Leave My Way Guidelines L VACATION LEAVE A benefit eligible employee starts earning vacation leave immediately. Vacation leave can be used for personal time off or to supplement workers compensation pay in accordance with the ordinance and procedure. New hired eligible employees may use accrued vacation after completing six (6) months of their initial probationary period. You may only carry forward a total of 240 hours of vacation leave to the new fiscal year. Any vacation in excess of 240 hours will roll into the employee's sick leave balance. If you separate employment from Cary and provide a two-week notice, your vacation leave balance up to 240 hours will be paid out at your current hourly rate. YEARS OF SERVICE DAYS EARNED IN ONE YEAR 0-5 YEARS 15 5-10 YEARS 18 10-15 YEARS 21 15-20 YEARS 24 20 OR MORE YEARS 27 LEAVE MY WAY A full-time, regular employee will receive 80 hours of Leave My Way (LMW) per fiscal year and is prorated for part-time employees. LMW is provided in addition to other paid leave time. LMW may be used for a variety of reasons like accrued vacation leave, such as for floating holidays, volunteering, rest and recharge days, pet care appointments, elder care support, business appointments, or anything else an employee deems important. An employee must submit a request to use LMW, in advance in accordance with departmental procedures. New hired eligible employees may use LMW after completing six (6) months of their initial probationary period. LMW will be given each year in the pay period that includes July 1. LMW will not:
