What's happening in downtown Cary? Live at Lunch A new event every Thursday during the month of May on the Fidelity Bank plaza encouraged people to bring or buy their lunch and enjoy music on the plaza while listening to live music. Attendance ranged from 120-200. The event is expected to return in September and October. Mini City Trip to Greeville, SC A joint trip with the Cary Chamber focused on downtown development and redevelopment. Chatham Street Chowdown Despite the rain, strong crowds came downtown for the second Chowdown event. Academy Streetscape Groundbreaking The community was invited to kick-off the Academy Street renovation project at Celebrate the Street, a groundbreaking and street party on May 28. The evening included music, food trucks, interactive art and community groups, as well as entertainment by local performers. The Cary Teen Council and Cary Visual Art hosted interactive art where the community could write their memories of Academy Street in chalk on the sidewalk or with marker on a banner. Local artists' original works depicting the sights, natural beauty and landmarks of downtown Cary were on display at the event.
