Specialized Recreation & Inclusion Programs Specialized recreation offers a variety of programs for persons of all ages with disabilities. Programs this spring included ropes course team building, game night, karaoke, mixed media art, cooking and Rock the Red Carpet Dance. Over 100 community members participated. With the Town's commitment to an inclusive approach to recreation, the Town makes reasonable accommodations and provides appropriate resources which may include supportive/adaptive materials, program/site specific training and/or additional staff support. Spruce & Adopt a Spot Earth Day was celebrated on April 30 and hundreds of guests visited Earth Day lane at Spring Daze to learn about green Town programs. Cary's Project PHOENIX has adopted Town Hall campus. Program participants volunteer to plant, mulch and beautify Town Hall. 194 811 9,327 1,536 projects completed volunteers participated litter collected hours volunteered Almost 200 citizens diverted an estimated 15,473 pounds of items from our landfills by donating them to local charities and/or recycling them through the event partner, Garage Brothers. Citizens were able to clean out their homes for a good cause at this convenient and popular one-stop-drop event. The Town hosted an online compost bin sale from April 8- May 8 and 291 compost bins were sold. Since this program began in 2014, the Town has sold over 850 bins, helping to divert waste from landfills. Project PHOENIX The Town's Project PHOENIX visited 22 communities April-June and hosted activities such as pickleball, soccer, emoji crafts, street hockey and football.
