OPERATIONS Water demand for the quarter averaged approximately 18.6 million gallons per day, which was similar to the 18.9 million gallons per day observed during the same period in 2015. In June, the Town issued its annual water quality report electronically. The report covers all drinking water quality testing performed in 2015. The Town is committed to providing drinking water that meets all state and federal regulatory standards. After performing thousands of water quality analyses during 2015, we are proud to report that your water remains safe and of high quality. Distribution of the annual report is required by law. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Town has distributed the report electronically. This results in an annual estimated savings of approximately $20,000 and provides an efficient way to communicate with our customers. Click here to view the Town's Annual Water Quality Report! In May, the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility (CAWTF) was awarded the 2015 Turbidity Optimization Award by the State's Department of Environmental Quality. Turbidity removal is an indicator of treatment plant performance. The award is given annually to water treatment facilities state-wide that meet goals for achieving higher levels of turbidity removal in their water treatment processes throughout the year. Between April-November 2015, Public Works staff painted 1,880 hydrants using 103 cans of black paint, 634 cans of chrome paint, and 1,137 cans of red paint. DID YOU KNOW?
