RailHawks at WakeMed Soccer Park The RailHawks completed their 10th season in October, finishing the combined season with 11 wins, 7 draws, and 14 losses. They tied for 7th overall in the combined season. Total attendance for the regular season was 8,598. WakeMed hosted the 2016 Nike Cross National Regionals USA Baseball National Training Complex The Training complex hosted 15 Town of Cary Major League Baseball games during the quarter. The Town administers the league and USA Baseball sponsors it, which makes it a great example of our partnership between the Town and USA Baseball. Cary Tennis Park The covered courts construction project at Cary Tennis Park continues to progress. Much of the electrical is complete and the roof is almost finished. The project is scheduled for an early summer completion. The Park hosted six tournaments this fall, including the Cary Tennis Classic, which brings 320 participants ages 11-18 from across the southeast to Cary. In addition the USTA/ITA Men's Collegiate Regionals, saw 128 participants from NCAA Division I schools from North and South Carolina. Community Center programs increased revenue by 23% and visitation increased by 32% over the same quarter in 2015. Herb Young Community Center Celebrates Red Ribbon Week The Red Ribbon ceremony occurred on November 2 with 30 students from six middle schools in Cary. These students were selected as finalists and joined by their School Resource Officers, School Administration, family members and friends to honor their participation in the National Drug Awareness Campaign. This year, Jennifer Nguyen, representing West Cary Middle School, was selected as the winner. Environmental Programs Approximately three miles of trails at Hemlock Bluffs needed rebuilding after damage caused by Hurricane Matthew. Almost 400 volunteers from 14 different workdays helped staff re- mulch both loop trails.
