Creating ACTIVE Retirement Years (919) 469-4081 13 Arts & Crafts PERSPECTIVE DRAWING AND PAINTING BUILDINGS This class's emphasis will be on learning to draw buildings using the elements of perspective. After 2 -3 weeks of practicing perspective by drawing buildings at different levels, you will draw and paint a landscape with buildings. Demonstrations and individual instruction will be given, which will include composition, the fundamental elements of landscape painting and much more. Instructor: Marcelle Hooks Fees: $59(R) $77(N) (6 classes) 110009 Tue Mar 20–Apr 24 9:30 a.m.-noon 110011 Wed Mar 21–Apr 25 1–3:30 p.m. PAINTING STILL LIFE FROM LIVE SETUPS Drawing and painting still life objects is one of the best ways to learn the techniques of painting, emphasis will be on composition and how to set-up and work from real objects. You will first sketch the still life with paint and brush, and become familiar with the shapes. Then learn how to give objects volume, color mixing, the importance of lighting and shadows and much more. This class is a combination of A/V presentation and studio workshop where you can apply the elements of color theory to your work. Any wet media (paint) may be used for the studio portion of the class. Instructor: George Wade Carmichael Fees: $33(R) $43(N) (5 classes) 110060 Thu Apr 26–May 24 9:30–11:30 a.m. Painting with Marcelle Express yourself by painting with acrylics, water-soluble oils and other unique mediums. Your instructor will share her tips and tricks from her many years of experience painting. CLASSICAL PAINTING TECHNIQUES This is a comprehensive class with an academic approach to learn how to paint (a portrait, a figure, an animal, florals) using the classical techniques of under painting and glazing. This class will teach you everything you need to know from drawing to mixing under painting and color palettes. If you choose to paint a portrait, first time students will copy an old master painting from photos furnished by the Instructor. Students wishing to paint another subject supply their own photos which must be enlarged to an 8 x 10. This class is for water based oils only and you will not be able to begin this class without your supplies.
