After 2 -3 weeks of practicing perspective by drawing buildings at different levels, you will draw and paint a landscape with buildings. Demonstrations and individual instruction will be given, which will include composition, the fundamental elements of landscape painting and much more. You will first sketch the still life with paint and brush, and become familiar with the shapes. Then learn how to give objects volume, color mixing, the importance of lighting and shadows and much more. This class is a combination of A/V presentation and studio workshop where you can apply the elements of color theory to your work. Any wet media (paint) may be used for the studio portion of the class. Your instructor will share her tips and tricks from her many years of experience painting. CLASSICAL PAINTING TECHNIQUES This is a comprehensive class with an academic approach to learn how to paint (a portrait, a figure, an animal, florals) using the classical techniques of under painting and glazing. This class will teach you everything you need to know from drawing to mixing under painting and color palettes. If you choose to paint a portrait, first time students will copy an old master painting from photos furnished by the Instructor. Students wishing to paint another subject supply their own photos which must be enlarged to an 8 x 10. This class is for water based oils only and you will not be able to begin this class without your supplies.
