PARKS PART THREE REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 155 WakeMed Soccer Park 940 E Chatham Street, 27511 WakeMed Soccer Park, a 150-acre multi-use complex, hosts professional soccer matches, college and high school tournaments, and other events throughout the year. Fields are available (by reservation only) for low-impact field sports such as soccer, youth football, lacrosse and ultimate Frisbee. In addition, a world-class cross country course encircles the park. The cross country course is also available for reservation and is open to the public during park hours when not reserved. The stadium seats 10,000 and includes amenities such as locker rooms and luxury suites. Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Park is open beyond 5 p.m. if there is scheduled activity. Saturday & Sunday, open when there are scheduled activities. Features: Lighted stadium field, two lighted match-only fields and five additional fields, permanent stadium seating for 10,000 with expansion capability, luxury suites, video board, open-air covered patios, concessions, locker rooms, rest rooms and meeting space, cross country course with 5K, 6K and 8K courses (adaptable to other distances), and 2,600 parking spaces. Walnut Street Park 1420 Walnut Street, 27511 Walnut Street Park is not to be missed. Park visitors can stroll down the brick promenade, walk the scenic paved trails, overlook wetlands on boardwalks, play on the playground, or have a picnic in the open lawn. Hours: Sunrise to sunset Features: Brick pedestrian promenade with integrated public art, open-space lawn (1.4 acres), picnic shelter and picnic tables, playground, paved loop trail (1 mile = 2.5 loops), and natural mulch. White Oak Park 1216 Jenks Carpenter Road, 27519 This park features Cary's outdoor pickleball courts, where everyone is welcome and encouraged to play! Don't play pickleball? Shoot hoops, have a picnic, or run free in the open play field. Hours: Sunrise to sunset Features: Basketball slab, three pickleball courts, open-play field, playground picnic shelter, picnic tables, and restrooms. Thomas Brooks Park 9008 Green Level Church Road, 27519 Thomas Brooks Park spans 224 beautiful acres in West Cary. You can enjoy a pick-up game of basketball or reserve a softball or baseball field or the lighted multipurpose field. Enjoy walking trails, a playground, and picnic shelters. Thomas Brooks Park is also home to the USA Baseball National Training Complex. Hours: Sunrise to sunset; in lighted areas where visitors are participating in an approved extended use activity, hours are extended until 30 minutes after the completion of the activity. Features: Four lighted baseball/softball fields with restrooms, two batting cages and hitting area, two outdoor lighted basketball courts, two lighted artificial turf multi-purpose soccer fields, picnic shelter with restrooms, playground, and a half-mile walking track around the athletic complex. Urban Park 414 E. Chatham Street, 27511 Tucked into a small wooded area, Urban Park is the perfect spot to burn a little energy on two play structures, a sandbox, and four swings atop a rubber play surface. Hours: Sunrise to sunset Features: Basketball slab, playground, and picnic tables. Veterans Freedom Park 1513 North Harrison Avenue, 27513 The Veterans Freedom Park features a memorial court of service flags and benches leading up to a stunning 90-foot white granite spire. The five seals from each branch of the military circle the base of the spire, creating an intimate and inviting space for reflection. Hours: Sunrise to sunset Features: Freedom Tower (with seating, seals from each branch of the military, memorial service flags court, and an open space). VETERANS FREEDOM PARK
